GPT Image 2.5 Online Generator: Flare & Sunburst
GPT Image 2.5 is the image model family behind ChatGPT Images 2.5, released by OpenAI in September 2026. It ships as two API models: Flare, tuned for speed, and Sunburst, tuned for quality. This page lets you run both directly, without an API key, alongside the original GPT Image 2.
Generate with GPT Image 2.5
Guests get one free Flare 1K generation. Sign in to use Sunburst, 2K/4K and reference-image editing.
Flare or Sunburst: which one should you use?
OpenAI's image prompting guide describes Flare as the speed-oriented model, with quality roughly on par with GPT Image 2 at lower latency, and Sunburst as the quality-oriented model that goes beyond GPT Image 2. Pick the model first, then tune resolution and prompt.
GPT Image 2.5 Flare
gpt-image-2.5-flare
Fast and inexpensive. The default on this site and the right first try for most prompts.
- Drafts, thumbnails and social posts
- Testing many prompt variations quickly
- Workloads where GPT Image 2 quality was already enough
GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst
gpt-image-2.5-sunburst
Slower, higher fidelity. Use it when details, small text or edit consistency matter.
- Posters and layouts with exact text
- Final marketing and product visuals
- Multi-step edits that must keep identity and composition
Credits per image
You only pay for what you generate. Credits depend on the model and the output resolution; failed generations are not charged.
| Model | Resolution | Credits per image |
|---|---|---|
| GPT Image 2.5 Flare | 1K | 1 |
| GPT Image 2.5 Flare | 2K / 4K | 2 |
| GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst | 1K | 2 |
| GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst | 2K / 4K | 3 |
| GPT Image 2 | 1K | 1 |
How to use GPT Image 2.5 here
1
Write or pick a prompt
Describe the subject, layout, style and any exact text in quotes, or start from one of the community prompts in the GPT Image 2.5 prompt library.
2
Choose Flare or Sunburst
Start with Flare 1K. Switch to Sunburst or 2K/4K once the composition is right and you need more detail.
3
Add a reference image (optional)
Upload a photo to edit it: say what to change and list what must stay the same, such as the face, product shape or logo.
4
Iterate one change at a time
Change a single instruction per round. If something drifts, restate the must-stay list instead of rewriting the whole prompt.
Prompting tips that work with GPT Image 2.5
Condensed from OpenAI's image prompting guide and from patterns that come up repeatedly in the community prompt library.
State the outcome
Say what the image is for, then the subject, framing and constraints. Split complex requests into scene, subject, details and constraints.
Describe visible details
Materials, light, color and medium matter more than adjectives. If you want a photo look, say photorealistic; lens terms are hints, not guarantees.
Put exact text in quotes
Quote every word that must appear, say where it goes and in what style, and ask for no extra text.
Edit with a must-stay list
For edits, change only X and list what must not change. Name things to exclude, such as extra logos or watermarks.
Give references a role
With several reference images, say which one supplies the subject, the style, the outfit or the background.
Check the result
Verify spelling of required text, identity and product shape, and that the edit touched only what you asked for.
What the GPT Image 2.5 API exposes
- model
- gpt-image-2.5-flare or gpt-image-2.5-sunburst.
- quality
- auto, low, medium, high, xhigh or max. OpenAI recommends raising quality only when there is a visible gap.
- size
- auto or WIDTHxHEIGHT: edges up to 3840 px and multiples of 16, aspect ratio up to 3:1. Very large outputs are marked experimental.
- background
- auto, opaque or transparent. Transparent output needs PNG or WebP; check for a real alpha channel.

Frequently asked questions
What is GPT Image 2.5?
It is OpenAI's image generation model family behind ChatGPT Images 2.5. In the API it is available as gpt-image-2.5-flare (speed) and gpt-image-2.5-sunburst (quality).
Is GPT Image 2.5 the same as GPT Image 2?
No. GPT Image 2 is the previous generation. GPT Image 2 remains available on this site as a separate option, so you can compare both on the same prompt.
Do I need an OpenAI API key?
No. Generations run through this site's backend. You sign in and use credits; there is nothing to configure.
Which resolution should I choose?
Use 1K while exploring. 2K and 4K cost more credits and take longer; switch when you are happy with the composition.
Can I edit my own photos?
Yes. Upload a reference image in the generator and describe the change. Logged-in users can edit with both Flare and Sunburst.
Are failed generations charged?
No. Credits are deducted only after an image is returned successfully.
